Plot Summary, Synopsis, Review: IMDb - tvmlive.com: The film focuses on events which took place during the reign of Khan Kroum (804-14) one of the most remarkable rulers in Bulgarian history. In territory, military strength and economic development during that period Bulgaria emerged as one of the most important European sates second only to Byzantium and the Frankish Empire of Charlemagne. Some of the most momentous military, political and legislative activities of Khan Kroum are shown. Particular attention is devoted to the battle at the Vurbishki Pass (811) where the Byzantine army led by Emperor Nicephorus I suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Bulgarians.
