Plot Summary, Synopsis, Review: IMDb - - - - - - - - : «Merlin and the War of the Dragons is another quality B-film release from the Asylum. It was shot on location in Wales. As the title says it tells the story of the famous wizard Merlin. Merlin and Vendiger are (step?) brothers, sons of a demon king and mortal women. Both are taken into custody by a man only known as Mage who is a powerful wizard, and the brothers become his students. Unfortunately, Vendiger takes the wrong path and leaves the Mage to pursue his evil plans, while the only one who can stop him is the young Merlin. And thus begins the War of the Dragons. Believe it or not, this film is really good. Don’t expect “LOTR”, of course, but if you’re looking for a decent B-fantasy flick this is your choice, The acting is good for the most part. The most prominent cast member is probably Jurgen Prochnow who plays the Mage. And you won’t be seeing the Asylum’s usual cast members, either. Is it a good or bad thing, I’ll leave that for you to decide. The special effects department did their job, too. While the dragons are animated really well, the spells and their effects are not, especially the “thunder” spell which looks really, really bad. The music, though, is great throughout and the ending song “Chain of Promise” is some real quality metal. The film may feel a bit rushed (at least I got that impression), but the story is not really complicated to follow so overall it turned out well. The ending hints a possible sequel, which I would really like to see, as the Asylum really seems to be getting better and better».
