The movie opens with Stephen's face filling the screen, white-haired, with an expression of intelligence, intensity and arrogance. Stephen is performing some mysterious blood experiments on living animals -- much to the disgust of his wife, Muriel (Barbara Steele), to whose family the Castle belongs.
