Plot Summary, Synopsis, Review: IMDb - entertainment.msn.com - czechcenter.com - volny.cz - tvguide.com: «Based on 13th-century Czechoslovakian legend, this epic follows the adventures of a clan of feudal lords that uses robbery and kidnapping to meet its desired goals. The film is a convincing portrayal of a people fearful of mystic power and controlled by superstition. The clans are shown as cruel and barbarian, thinking nothing of raping a woman or beheading a man in grotesque fashion, as this is the only existence they know. Director Vlacil does not try to romanticize medieval knighthood but creates an atmosphere of mysticism and superstition, with excellent results».
