Rosay) e sorella del re di Francia Charles IX (R. Porte), sposa il 18 agosto 1572 Henri de Navarre (A. Versini), capo del partito ugonotto, ma pochi giorni dopo, nella notte di San Bartolomeo (23-24 agosto) si scatena il massacro dei protestanti, ordinato da sua madre. Margot difende il suo sposo da lei e dai suoi due fratelli. La Mole (A. Francioli), divenuto l'amante di Margot, salva la vita di suo marito, ma finisce sul patibolo. Henri e Margot finiscono in esilio.
