Il film è pertanto il 7° della saga di Frankenstein, il 6° della saga di Dracula e il 4° della saga dell'uomo lupo. L'uomo lupo vuole essere curato dalla sua licantropia per ciò si rivolge al noto Dr. Edelman, scienziato e benefattore che compie studi sulle malattie del sangue. Il dottore riesce con Larry Talbot (ancora Lon Chaney Jr.) e tenta la stessa cosa sul conte Dracula (John Carradine), che sotto le mentite spoglie del Barone Làtos cerca un rimedio contro il proprio vampirismo, ma la natura di Dracula prende il sopravvento e riuscendo a contaminare il sangue del Dottor Edelman, lo rende folle. Prima di arrivare alla completa pazzia omicida, Edelman riesce a sottoporre (in un raro momento di lucidità)la tomba di Dracula ai raggi del sole, incenerendolo, ma ormai la follia si impadronisce di lui che diventa dapprima omicida, poi "mad doctor", riportando in vita il Mostro di Frankenstein, trascinato dalle acque del fiume in cui era annegato nel precedente film, fino alla scogliera circostante il laboratorio. La polizia, cercando di far luce sulla follia che sembra aver colpito Edelman, fa irruzione nel laboratorio, uccidendo l'ormai incontrollabile scienziato criminale, il quale nel morire, provoca accidentalmente un incendio in cui perisce anche la creatura di Frankenstein. È l'ultimo film horror di Erle C. Kenton con Carradine, Strange e Chaney negli stessi ruoli del precedente Al di là del mistero».

Director Erle C. Kenton’s follow-up to 1944’s House of Frankenstein clocks in at a mere 67 minutes -- take out the credits and it’s almost down to an hour. The length is probably partially due to the fact that between 1940 and 1946, Kenton directed a whopping 20 films (and that after 27 in the 1930’s and 32 in the 1920’s) -- take that Stanley Kubrick! But films don’t succeed or fail due to length alone. House of Dracula does slightly succeed, but primarily by riding the wake of the hugely successful Universal monster films that are the sole reason this film was made. It also has more than its share of problems, and quite a bit of it will seem unintentionally funny to a modern audience raised on one too many comedies lampooning just this kind of material. The plot is simple, if ridiculous. Basically, Dracula and the Wolfman independently head to a doctor’s office (well, it’s not a place filled with super-gravitational couches and old magazines, but a doctor’s office in a castle) to see if they can be cured of their "ills." Why they head to this particular doctor, Dr. Edelman (Onslow Stevens), we don’t know -- apparently it was unimportant, or maybe Kenton forgot to film that scene. Anyway, it seems that they’ve both had enough evil escapades, and they’re worried about their cholesterol and blood pressure...».
