«When aging film star MacGregor (Peter Cushing) announces that he is
no longer going to appear in horror films, but wants to work in romances instead,
two screenwriters are sent to his eerie house by the sea to try to persuade him
into returning to horror films. But as the night progresses, the scriptwriters
and the two accompanying starlets soon learn who is the master of horror, and
they begin to wonder if MacGregor is an actor playing a vampire, or a vampire
playing an actor... Note: This French erotic musical comedy marks Peter
Cushing's only appearance as Dracula (and not his nemesis), 3 years before he
appeared as Grand Moff Tarkin in
Star Wars. - Despite of the movie's
title, the character of Dracula does not exactly appear in the film (though
Cushing plays a noted horror actor famous for his vampire roles, and wears the
traditional Dracula garb). - Bernard Menez appeared in another French vampire
comedy: Dracula, Pere et Fils
(Dracula and Son, 1976), this time with the other half of Hammer's "dynamic
duo", Christopher Lee»
